Welcome Back to School - BOE 2026Sep8.jpgOn behalf of the Board of Education, we are delighted to open our schools to returning students, staff, and families, and also extend a special welcome to those who are joining our community for the first time. We are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and connection.

As we begin a new school year, we are excited to welcome students and staff to the new addition at Langley Secondary. We are grateful to have been able to create more space for students to thrive in a healthy, safe and positive learning environment. We are also looking forward to seeing the new middle and secondary schools in Willoughby take shape in our growing District. These investments will help ensure our schools can continue to meet the needs of students and families today and into the future.

We also continue the important work that is outlined in our Strategic Plan; meeting goals and prioritizing students that may need more support. Together with students, staff, parents/guardians, and community partners, we remain focused on creating conditions where every student feels a sense of belonging, is supported in their learning, and has opportunities to reach their full potential.

A new school year would not be possible without the tremendous work that happens behind the scenes throughout the summer. We appreciate the work of our custodians, Facilities and Maintenance teams, IT staff, and School Board Office staff, who continued working over these last months to prepare our classrooms, schools, and systems for the year ahead. Their dedication helps ensure our schools are safe, welcoming, and ready for students on the first day.

To everyone, we hope the year ahead is filled with meaningful learning, new experiences, strong connections, and many moments to celebrate our successes.

Thank you,

Candy Ashdown, Chair
Langley Board of Education
