Families new to the Langley School District, born outside of Canada and who are not yet Canadian citizens such as Permanent Residents/Refugees/Temporary Residents (Work & Study Permit Holders) please follow the instructions on this webpage here.

If your child is registering to enter Grade 1-7 in the Langley School District for the upcoming school year (September entry for 2025-2026), please continue to step 2.

If your child is registering to enter Grade 1-7 in the Langley School District for this current school year (entry now for 2024-2025), please continue to step 2.

  • Step 2: Determine your child’s catchment school

To find your catchment school, use the District’s school locator tool here.

These changes are reflected in the School Locator Tool. You can also refer to this infographic to see the new catchment changes here.

  • Step 4: Register your child online via MyEDBC

A desktop or laptop device is strongly recommended to complete online applications. The use of a tablet or mobile phone will be challenging.

If this is your first time registering a child and you have no other children currently attending school in BC, then you will need to start a new MyEDBC account by following these directions in this video here below.

    Log in to MyEDBC here.

Once you have created an account or if you already have a child attending a school in BC, then you do not need to start a new MyEDBC account. You will need to log in to your existing account and initiate a new application for your child by following these directions in this video here below.

If you have a MyEDBC account and you are having trouble logging in, please visit the District’s MyEDBC help webpage here.

    Additional Information and Instruction

Please take note of the following information to assist you in completing your child’s application form:

    • By submitting an online application form, you hereby declare that, to the best of your knowledge, the provided information in your child’s application form is true and accurate. Your child’s application form is considered a legal document recognized by the Langley School District.
    • One application is required per child. If you have twins or triplets, you will need to submit an application form for each child. Please do not complete more than one application per child.
    • The online application form does not include a separate section for a secondary contact or emergency contacts. Please include one (1) secondary and at least two (2) emergency contacts in the application by clicking on the “+ Add” and creating a new field in the Parent/Guardian/Other Contact section.
    • The District supports early identification and intervention, promotes equitable access to appropriate educational assessments, programming and resources, and recognizes that all students benefit from universally designed curriculum, instruction and environments. Some students with diverse abilities will benefit from modified programming. If your child has previously received Student Services Support, please indicate that in the applicable field in the online form.
    • The District requests vaccination status. Please upload any vaccination documentation or screenshots if possible.
    • The District requires proof of guardianship. Please upload any legal documents such as court orders or child in care documentation.
    • Applications will be approved after the registration period has closed on February 18, 2025. Please be patient as school staff work to approve applications.
    • Please note, schools with high enrolment may take longer than expected to accept applications due to volume of applicants and to ensure accuracy and equity in the process.
  • How to Apply for a Cross Boundary Registration

Please take note, due to enrolment growth in various regions in the District, approval of Cross Boundary Applications is not guaranteed. Approval of these applications is based on a variety of factors including capacity available at schools.

On or after January 6, 2025:

Step 1: ALL parents must register the child at their CATCHMENT school and provide the following documentation: Child’s birth certificate, proof of parent citizenship and proof of address/residence.

Step 2: Request a cross boundary application form from the catchment school, or view it here, and have it signed by the catchment school principal.

Step 3: Take the signed cross boundary application form to the requested school and submit to the principal. Keep a copy for your records.

Decisions regarding cross boundary requests are generally not decided before June 15 and can either be accepted, denied, or deferred on or before September 15 of the upcoming school year.

For more information, please contact either your school principal or Office Services at the School Board Office at 604-534-7891.

  • Student Accident Insurance

Families have the option of purchasing insurance for their child/children through two different companies. Enrolment in the program can be done online. For more information on available plans and to apply for coverage, visit this page here.

  • First Days Back at School

The first day of the school year is the Tuesday immediately after Labour Day long weekend.

Start up schedules will vary at each school. Parents are recommended to contact their child’s school to confirm start and end times for the first week.

If your child is already enrolled at a school, but will not be in class for any reason on the first day, please contact the school and report the absence. If you are new to the district and have not registered at your neighbourhood school, register your child as soon as possible (elementary school offices are opened one week prior to the first day of school; secondary offices two weeks prior).

It is critically important to each school, and to the entire school district, that all Langley students attend their school and confirm their registration.

At the elementary level, only after attendance is confirmed can your child’s school verify its grade count (numbers of students per grade) with the district office. Only then will Langley’s elementary schools receive their finalized allocation of teachers. On the Friday of the first week elementary schools will complete their official class lists. Children will be assigned to their classes by Monday of the second week.

Please Note: In the unusual circumstance that your child may not attend on the first day, please contact your school. Failure to confirm your child’s registration and non-attendance on the first two days of school start-up may result in the loss of your child’s place at your school. This reflects Langley School District’s obligation to meet the Ministry of Education’s class-size requirements K-3, 4-7, and the Ministry cross-boundary, cross-district attendance provisions.
