Seven film students from Walnut Grove Secondary were recently recognized with a $76,000 scholarship for their participation in ZoomFest, a Vancouver-based film competition. They were given 48 hours to develop a short film script, film it, then edit it. Their film A Yellow Day, in the senior category, won Best Overall Film, Best Group Performance, Best Screenplay (runner-up), and Best Editing (runner-up).
The scholarship is split between the seven participants, for $10,000 each, towards post-secondary at Vancouver Film School, with an additional $6000 scholarship to share.
