Walnut Grove student wins amazing opportunity with WorkSafeBC video contest
April 19, 2018
Last year, Ethan, a Walnut Grove student was awarded first place in the WorkSafeBC Student Safety Video Contest with his short Find Your Voice. This year, he entered the contest once more with No buts — Listen to your gut, and once more took first place. However, this year means a lot more.
To start, the judgement of his latest work was done by a completely new panel of judges, who had no prior knowledge of his previous wins. But, even more than that, his short film has advanced from the provincial competition to the national competition, where he stands to win additional prizes.
As well, the video won the Actsafe Aspiring Filmmaker Award, granting him the opportunity to have lunch with a prominent Canadian filmmaker, tour the set of a current production, and a screening of his film at a Director’s Guild of Canada event.
In total, Ethan’s awards came to $2,500 for the Walnut Grove film department, as well as $2000 for himself.
Needless to say, this is an amazing win by Ethan, and a huge opportunity! Congratulations Ethan on such a fantastic achievement!
