Rugby pep rally kicks off at Yorkson Creek Middle

May 4, 2017

Students from Yorkson Creek Middle School poured onto the field on Friday, April 28. They gathered in Yorkson Community Park, and the playing fields for an afternoon of rugby.

The day began with playful drills, as students tried out the different skills that go into playing rugby. Each station was manned by older students, while the younger students tried kicking, running, and passing.

In the game field, up the hill, the Yorkson Creek Wolves boys and girls teams were playing. Students that were finished with drills could purchase snacks from concession and sit in and watch the games.

Girls played first, followed by the boy’s team.

The pep rally was organized by Duane Kroeker to raise interest in the sport, as well as raise money to give young women, who would otherwise not have the opportunity to play on a team.
