Piping and Plumbing open house gives students a chance to explore a career

April 18, 2018

Piping and Plumbing at Langley Secondary is a grade 11 and 12 Youth Train in Trades program that focuses on practical learning using industry standards. Students learn current trades practices and even participate in work placements over summer. From there they can transition into post-graduate studies at BCIT to finish the certificate.

On April 16, the course held its annual open house to give prospective students hands-on experience with what the program will offer. Teacher, Dave Lalley, hosted the event and activities, with the help of a few of his current students.

For some students, it may be a consideration, or an idea to fall back on. In many of these cases, there comes an uncertainty. Offering an open house gives students a chance to explore piping and plumbing as a career option before applying to the program.

For any students that are interested, applications for the program are open until the end of April.
