Messages of Care for our Seniors: Langley Human Dignity Coalition

May 22, 2020

Let’s help bring some joy and a sense of community to our seniors.

The Langley School District is a member and a strong supporter of the Langley Human Dignity Coalition. With the first week of June (June 1-8) being Seniors Week, the Coalition is encouraging our community to help raise spirits for some of our most vulnerable with the “Members of Care for Langley Seniors” initiative.

The current pandemic has been difficult for everyone but it has been especially hard on seniors who may be away from family, friends, and community – many of them alone.

“Our seniors have been devastated by COVID-19. Not only are they the most susceptible to contracting the virus they remain to be the ones who become isolated in our communities. This initiative is to give our seniors the link, so they know that that everyone is thinking about them especially the younger generation,” explains Wendy Cook, teacher and member of Langley Human Dignity Coalition.

As part of the initiative, children and youth are asked to create paintings, drawings, or poems, for the seniors in our community.

The Coalition believes everyone can do this small act of kindness to bring some joy to our seniors.

Please send pictures of your contributions in the following places below and then members will post pictures delivering all of the wonderful love to seniors during seniors week.

“Community is about establishing relationships and this is just the start!” adds Cook.
