A Welcome Back Message from the Board of Education
September 5, 2023
The Langley Board of Education would like to welcome back all our students, staff, and families, both returning and new. We hope you all had a healthy, relaxing, and fun summer break and are energized and excited for the new school year ahead.
September is always a busy time across the District, and we, as a Board, are eager to return to work. We plan to continue supporting our goals laid out in our new Strategic Plan with a focus on improving learning for all our students. In addition to fulfilling our educational goals in the classroom, we look forward to continuing to strengthen relationships with our community partners, including the Township of Langley, City of Langley, and other organizations.
As always, the Board recognizes and prioritizes managing growth in our District, which gets larger each year. Our Board is continuing to work with the Ministry of Education and Child Care advocating for more schools. In the meantime, we are excited about a number of capital projects and facility improvements and renovations that have been completed over the summer, as well as others still to come in the future. We know many District staff members, especially those in our Facilities and Maintenance, Information Technology, and administrative departments, have been hard at work behind the scenes to ensure our students have a successful school year. Please join me in thanking them for their efforts in creating positive spaces for our students and staff.
On behalf of the Board, we wish everyone a 2023-24 school year filled with success!
Thank you,
Candy Ashdown, Chair Langley Board of Education
