Spooktacular Halloween at SD35

November 7, 2022

Witches, pirates, and princess galore! Students, staff, and school community members celebrated Halloween in style. There were many spooky activities and costume parades taking place all over the District. Students from Noel Booth Elementary spent the day carving and decorating pumpkins. It is an activity that happens every year.

“It’s a long-standing tradition here at Noel Booth where we have the big buddies meet with the little buddies in the gym and they carve pumpkins for the little ones,” explained Lori Callies, Resource Teacher at Noel Booth Elementary.

“So, they help the little ones first and then when there’s time, the big buddies then carve their pumpkins,” she added.

Working together and collaborating is part of the learning process for students.

“For me personally, I think it is a wonderful program to have older mentors with the little kids. They absolutely adore being leaders for the little ones, the younger students really love being with big buddies, and this is just a really, fun way to get them together in the gym,” said Callies.

Other schools took part in spooky science experiments and parties. School PACs joined in the fun leading up to Halloween, helping organize Halloween dances and a movie night.

At the school board office, each department dressed up according to certain themes including Harry Potter, Disney villains, and M&Ms. Staff in costume took time out of their day to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters from nearby James Hill Elementary. It was a fantastic day for all!
