The District is continuing to move forward with the middle school model.
At the Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 the Board of Education passed the following motion:
“That District staff commence a consultation process with parents and staff in the DW Poppy and Aldergrove families of schools and Coghlan Fundamental Elementary, regarding the three options presented to the Transition Committee, and report back to the Board of Education at their Regular Meeting in December 2019 with the feedback they receive and possible next steps.”
The three plans for consideration include:
- Plan 1: Re-submit the request for capital funding to the Ministry of Education
- Plan 2: Place portables onsite to accommodate at least one grade group
- Plan 3: DW Poppy becomes a stand-alone middle school and Aldergrove Secondary would become the feeder secondary school
District staff are now seeking community input to assist in the development of a recommendation to present to the Board of Education at their Regular Meeting on December 10th. We invite you to take part in the consultation process being undertaken. Input will be gathered between September 18, 2019 and November 15, 2019.
There are three ways in which you can participate in the consultation process:

Program Note: Due to limited room capacity at the School Board Office, the District will not be conducting the group workshops to collect feedback at the Tuesday, November 12 meeting. Attendees will be directed to submit written feedback on site, by email, and or online survey. Thanks for your cooperation.
