Remembrance Day 2017

November 9, 2017

Schools across the district gathered this week to remember the fallen. A moment of silence was recognized at each school to the Last Post, the trumpets call to mark the end of a person’s service to their country.

Presentations were made, decorating schools with poppies, music, and poetry.

In remembrance of the one hundred year anniversary of the battles of Vimy Ridge and Paschendale, schools took time to learn about the importance of Canada’s role in these battles, and about the many thousands who fell in the line of duty.

It was also acknowledged that there are still Canadian men and women in service of their country today, who deserve our respect and honour.
